Professional Assistance to Voluntary Agencies - PAVA
While more specialized funding becoming available in the voluntary
sector, voluntary agencies are facing a shortage of professional and
trained human resource to handle their projects and programmes. The PAVA
support of ARAVALI seeks to fulfill the human resource need of the
Voluntary Agencies by providing them expertise in the form of young
professionals (designated as Interns).
PAVA programme is visualized as a means to enhance the capacities of
small Voluntary Agencies (VA) that have gained credibility in their
working community, but lack the requisite capacities.
Goal of PAVA Programme
To build capacity and strengthening of voluntary agencies so that they
can adapt and respond to the changing requirements of the development
sector.
Objectives of the PAVA Programme
1) Providing professional support to voluntary
agencies (especially to the grassroots ones)
2) Creating an opportunity for young development
professionals to work directly with the rural communities, while
simultaneously benefiting from the experience of the associated NGOs.
The recruited interns are placed with small and medium NGOs. ARAVALI
provides the orientation and exposure about the sector to interns.
Quarterly review meetings are organized with the interns and the heads
of the PAVA partner organisations, apart from suitable inputs through
workshops and exposure visits. Apart from this ARAVALI partly
contributes to the salary costs of the interns to the partners.
While placing young professionals in these grassroot organizations, the
intern’s interest, as well as the organisation’s area of work and
capacity building needs is matched so that the best of both could be
used to enrich the Intern and the VA.
