ARAVALI has helped over 30 organisations understand their roles better
in the promotion and nurturing of self help groups and leading them to
take on more evolved roles in livelihoods generation. Funded by the Sir
Ratan Tata Trust, the focus has been on organisational development and
creation of appropriate systems to facilitate effective credit flows and
building livelihoods security. An important area has been risk reduction
through micro-insurance.
This initiative of ARAVALI reaches around 10,000 families. Over time we
will aim to have each Partner evolve their initiative into a Family
Livelihoods Resource Centre to enable them to work with the families
that are associated with SHGs.
Through a combination of microfinance services and business development
services, we aim to help the poorest people become livelihoods secure.
